Sands Resorts is the home of the best Myrtle Beach vacation accommodations on the Grand Strand. Our property offers a variety in size and locations throughout the resort. The number one question we are asked in booking is what is the difference between oceanfront and oceanview rooms and condos.

At Sand Dunes we offer many options to include the Oceanfront Main building, North and South Towers, Tower 1 & 2, Villa 1 & 2 and the Sand Dunes Villas.
The oceanfront options are in our Oceanfront Main building. Here we have efficiency, 1 bedroom junior suites and the two bedroom penthouse option. In this building all the balconies are directly facing the ocean with no building in between. Walking from the first floor, there is direct ocean access.

The ocean view options are North and South Towers, Tower 1 & 2, Villa 1 & 2 and the Sand Dunes Villas. Often these are chosen due to larger floor plans and more occupancy. Still offering an ocean view, many families choose Sands Resorts for the option to have the 2 and 3 bedroom resort experience. All ocean view buildings share resort parking and have all amenity and ocean access as the oceanfront building guests. Most of these buildings also offer kitchens and in suite laundry.
Planning your vacation at Sands Resorts gives you the options to customize your beach vacation. If it’s just for two or four, our oceanfront main building may be the perfect fit. Enjoy dinner down stairs at our onsite restaurants or a night on the town in Myrtle Beach. If you are vacationing with more than 4, need space to spread out, or looking to prepare your own meals, our ocean view rooms are likely to meet your vacation needs.
Be sure to book direct with us and save the most!
Everyone loves pizza. Our inherent fondness for fluffy, yet subtly-crispy dough, well-seasoned tomato sauce, freshly-grated mozzarella, and a bevy of meaty (or vegetable) toppings originates somewhere deep down in our souls. It’s not difficult to locate a slice of pizza in Myrtle Beach (or anywhere else, for that matter). However, unearthing a show-stopping slice of pie that wholly satiates your taste buds takes practice. Or, you could just take our advice and plan a trip to one of these three local pizza joints, all of which are a short distance from Sand Dunes Resort.
The Best Pizza in Myrtle Beach: Delizioso!
What’s genuinely unique about Myrtle Beach’s always-fabulous pizza scene is how diverse it is, with ample inspiration from New York City, Southern California, and Italy. And, per usual, these three local staples offer a variety of services, including curbside pickup, delivery, and on-site dining, depending on which mood you’re in this fall. Without further ado, here’s our shortlist of the best pizza in Myrtle Beach (and the entire Grand Strand, for that matter).
Michael’s New York Style Pizza
While Michael’s is a casual, straightforward New York-style pizza joint with basic decor and furnishings, you’ll quickly discover big-time flavors, surprisingly-creative plate presentations, and buckets of mozzarella around every turn. For those looking for a deep-fried alternative, the “mega” calzone is a gut-busting revelation. Otherwise, the classic ‘za is equally cheesy, hearty, and perfectly cooked every single time. We cannot resist the call of the stuffed meat, barbecue chicken, and, oh, that delectable spinach and feet concoction that packs a surprising punch!
AJ’s Pizza
AJ’s tagline is “local pizza done right.” Well, you got that right. Their classic pizzas are somewhere between deep-dish and Greek-style, as there’s plenty of olive oil-swatched crust to go around, as well as layers upon layers of cheese. If you’re worried about having “too many” options, you’ll likely want to try another nearby eatery, mainly because AJ’s has over two dozen varieties. Local favorites include the “surf and turf” steak and shrimp, classic taco, and hot-smoked Lowcountry sausage. You simply cannot go wrong at AJ’s.
Ultimate California Pizza
The most popular pizza chain in Myrtle Beach is Ultimate California—four locations and counting! California-style ‘za has a devoted following, as pie lovers are rethinking their diet. Ultimate California is a favorite of ours because they offer a “build-your-own” option that’s great for those several dietary restrictions. Meanwhile, buckle up for a road trip through Cali with stops at Alcatraz, Sonoma, Berkeley, Hollywood, Fresno, and UCLA.
After a brief, albeit delicious pit stop at one of these three pizza places in Myrtle Beach, return to Sand Dunes Resort for a dip in the ocean, a lazy river float, and poolside cocktails. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, remains an unquestionably alluring coastal haven for families, couples, and groups alike. There’s no denying that this seaside paradise has the East Coast’s premier collection of championship golf courses, head-turning attractions, and fee-free conveniences. And the best way to commemorate a stellar day of aquatic adventure, birdie putts, and mouthwatering coastal cuisine is by visiting a top-reviewed Myrtle Beach winery. Sand Dunes Resort, home to the region’s most exclusive water park, is only a short drive from a handful of beloved South Carolina wineries, including the oft-visited Duplin Winery and La Belle Amie Vineyard.
Swirl, Sip, and Savor: A Practical Myrtle Beach Winery Guide
Before or after a brief stint on Restaurant Row, at a nearby museum, or under the sea, plan a relaxing trip to a top-rated Myrtle Beach winery. There are nearly a dozen wineries near Myrtle Beach, including several vineyards and tasting rooms across the border in North Carolina. However, these five selections perfectly embody the essence of a classic Carolina winery.
Duplin Winery, North Myrtle Beach, SC
The most-visited Myrtle Beach winery remains Duplin, whose home base is in Rose Hill, NC. Duplin opened a second location in picturesque North Myrtle Beach in 2015. The impressive, 15,000-square-foot facility features a 28-foot-tall replica of the Cape Hatteras Light Station, which is an ode to its North Carolina roots. Duplin’s Barefoot Landing locale helps draw hundreds of thousands of thirsty patrons each year.
La Belle Amie Vineyard, Little River, SC
For true backcountry vineyard ambiance, we always recommend La Belle Amie, the pride of Little River. Little River, of course, is celebrated for its salt marshes, but it’s now home to both a distillery (Twelve 33) and a quaint, peaceful vineyard. Enjoy a vino sampler of Twisted Sisters’ finest vino this summer amid lush grapevines and towering trees at La Belle Amie.
Carolina Vineyards Winery, North Myrtle Beach, SC
Carolina Vineyards, much like Duplin, rests near the serene Intracoastal Waterway inside North Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Landing. This elegant tasting room is an idyllic spot to savor fine wine after a hearty meal, boat ride, or live performance. Most of the labels are in-house varietals, such as the Rock Step fruit wine or Tropical Paradise, a pineapple white grape wine.
Coastal Wine Boutique, Myrtle Beach, SC
If you’re hoping to make a quick pit stop at a petite wine bar along Ocean Boulevard, we highly recommend Coastal Wine Boutique on 21st Avenue. The sleek tasting room features many shades of crimson, a striking checkered countertop, and a variety of beautifully-plated delicacies. Locals often slink into the wine bar to try an exotic new hookah flavor.
Grapefull Sisters Vineyard, Tabor City, NC
There are only a handful of true vineyards within driving distance of the boardwalk. Luckily for you, the short, scenic trek to Grapefull Sisters Vineyard is bound to be a highlight of your weekend in paradise. This classic “Myrtle Beach” winery crafts some of the tastiest coastal wine in the Carolinas. Grapefull Sisters’ countryside ambiance is the perfect way to cap a day of championship golf.
Charming Myrtle Beach Hotels on the Beach
After a full day of golf, gourmet cuisine, and wine tasting in Myrtle Beach, retreat to Sand Dunes Resort for a relaxing evening under the stars. But first, before dusk approaches, indulge in a lazy river float inside the free, on-site Sands Resorts Waterpark. Our charming, affordable suites, meanwhile, are just steps away from the Atlantic Ocean’s soft waves, as well as several waterfront dining options. If you’d rather explore the heart of the city after dark, feel free to read our Myrtle Beach travel guide. We’re also one of the only regional resorts to offer discounted Myrtle Beach golf packages at some of the best courses in North America. Please give us a call today at 866-845-1011 to book a long-waited, well-deserved spring or summertime vacation to sunny South Carolina!
Many cities boast a highly-trafficked “Restaurant Row,” including New York City, Orlando, and Honolulu. But none of them rival Restaurant Row in Myrtle Beach, primarily because of its world-class seafood, eclectic architecture, and Intracoastal Waterway location. There are countless dining hubs along the Grand Strand, but this unique collection of seafood shacks, steakhouses, and family restaurants remains an agreeable tourist trap for families of all sizes. Restaurant Row in Myrtle Beach is just three miles from Sand Dunes Resort. And, although we feature three on-site restaurants, we cannot blame you if lunch or dinner at this popular eat street is too enticing to pass up.
Restaurant Row in Myrtle Beach: The Top 8 Eateries
Restaurant Row in Myrtle Beach is conveniently located along Kings Highway, adjacent to the peaceful Intracoastal Waterway. It’s not only a short drive from Sands Dunes Resort’s free outdoor water park, but it’s perfectly sandwiched in-between world-class golf courses, a Tanger Outlet, The Carolina Opry, and, of course, several miles of pristine beach. Below, you’ll find eight of our favorite Restaurant Row eateries, separated into different categories. Read the blurbs below to help make the selection process that much easier.
Top Rated / Best Seafood: Bimini’s Oyster Bar
Bimini’s Oyster Bar may not be extravagant, oversized, or modern. But my, oh, my, do they possess the freshest shellfish, the largest steam pots, and the friendliest servers.
Authentic Japanese: Miyabi Japanese Steak & Seafood
While most folks don’t flock to Restaurant Row in Myrtle Beach for eye-popping maki rolls and hibachi-style dining, Miyabi continues to wow diners from all walks of life.
Best Steak: Thoroughbreds Chophouse
It’s exceedingly easy to find a steakhouse along the Grand Strand. However, Thoroughbreds is the epitome of a luxury steakhouse: juicy steak, romantic ambiance, unrivaled plate presentation, and perhaps the best dessert in town!
Best Family Restaurant: Chuck’s Steak House
Chuck’s has the familiar warmth and classic American nostalgia that you typically only see at a small-town family restaurant. Chuck’s was also voted the “best steakhouse” in town on several occasions. Their culinary team can craft a mean steak!
Authentic Mexican: Margaritas Mexican Restaurant
Occasionally a family desperately needs to devour a mess of fajitas, smothered burritos, and authentic tacos. And mom and dad can wash it all down with a signature margarita.
Best Buffet: Bennett’s Calabash
Bennett’s Calabash boasts arguably the best seafood buffet in Myrtle Beach, which has been a staple since 1978. Folks drool over their snow crab legs, fried oysters, and steamed clams.
Best Late Night Atmosphere: Barons Steaks & Spirits
It’s hard to beat top-notch steak, top-shelf spirits, and smooth jazz after dark. Barons has undergone extensive renovations, which mixed in some modern touches to go along with its classic piano bar feel.
Most Popular: Giant Crab Seafood Restaurant
More families visit Giant Crab than any other eatery on Restaurant Row in Myrtle Beach. Kids love Tommy (the giant crab), and parents salivate over the carving station and stuffed flounder.
Myrtle Beach Resorts With Water Parks
After a brief albeit memorable visit to dazzling Restaurant Row in Myrtle Beach, retreat to Sand Dunes Resort for a lazy river float, a beach walk at dusk, and a few hours in the Family FunZone. And don’t forget to read our entertainment guide! The city is home to countless eye-popping museums, championship golf courses, and underwater adventures, all of which are just a short drive from our sandy shores. Please give us a call today at 866-845-1011 to book a long-overdue vacation to sunny Myrtle Beach!
The oceanside city of Myrtle Beach is alluring to families for numerous reasons, including its world-famous golf courses, lavish shopping meccas, and pristine beaches. But this gorgeous respite is also a world-class entertainment hub, much like Las Vegas but much more kid-friendly. With countless nightly theatric performances, comedy routines, and dazzling musicals to choose from, you’ll never have to go far to discover Myrtle Beach entertainment at its finest. The perfect place to start and finish each day under the sun is right here at Sand Dunes Resort, one of the only Myrtle Beach hotels with a free water park. Guests can also take full advantage of our Family FunZone, on-site dining, exclusive beach access, and convenient location.
Myrtle Beach Entertainment: 9 Unique Experiences
Sifting through a batch Myrtle Beach shows, concerts, and comedic performances can be quite dizzying as there are over two dozen possibilities each night. If you’ve ever visited our breathtaking slice of coastal South Carolina before, you already know that mornings and afternoons are for sunbathing, water sports, and shopping. However, once the sun goes down, most travelers seek out an evening of world-renowned Myrtle Beach entertainment. To ensure that your upcoming visit is nothing short of flawless, we’ve compiled nine of our favorite after-dark destinations—enjoy!
- The Carolina Opry Theater: We couldn’t think of a more suitable place to commemorate an already stellar day in South Carolina than the Opry. With five unique Myrtle Beach shows to choose from, you won’t soon forget your visit to the region’s best theater.
- Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show: Pirates Voyage is becoming a wintertime sensation thanks to its holiday-related dinner shows. The experience is quite similar to the one at Medieval Times—simply swap the knights for pirates.
- Comedy Cabana: The Comedy Cabana, located just three miles down the road, consistently books the most talented comedians in the country. Lewis Black, Dave Attell, and Pauly Shore (among countless others) have all performed at the Cabana.
- Legends in Concert: Some of the continent’s best impersonators perform at Legends, including Elvis Presley, Alan Jackson, and even the Blues Brothers.
- Carolina Comedy Club: This Broadway at the Beach staple has welcomed Gallagher, Ralphie May, Chelsea Handler, and so many more talented performers over the years. It doesn’t get as much love as the Cabana, but it remains one of the best bets for after-dark Myrtle Beach entertainment.
- Alabama Theatre: Several of the most visually-striking Myrtle Beach shows can be experienced at Alabama Theatre, a beloved concert hall in the heart of Barefoot Landing. One the Show, Alabama’s bread and butter, enters its 26th season this year.
- GTS Theatre: GTS hosts everything from an Elvis Presley impersonator to comedic magic acts. But the Motown Tribute Show is where they make hay.
- The Asher Theatre: While Waccamaw Boulevard’s Asher Theatre isn’t as expansive or lavish as many other nearby live venues, we’ve quickly fallen for its intimate setting and calendar of eye-catching musicians.
- Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament: Medieval Times has withstood the test of time as families still cannot get enough of this rousing dinner theater. The awe-inspiring, shriek-inducing battles have never been more impressive.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is an extraordinarily unique travel destination as our oceanside paradise is equally revered for its pristine beaches, world-renowned golf courses, and eye-popping attractions. There’s genuinely something for everyone here along the Grand Strand, including a diverse array of Myrtle Beach museums. Whether you’re a history buff, well-traveled aesthete, or self-proclaimed petrolhead, the whole family is in for one whirlwind of a good time here at Sand Dunes Resort. Don’t forget that all guests receive free entry to our splash-tastic water park as well as convenient access to our exclusive beach.
A Handy Guide to the Best Myrtle Beach Museums
A long-awaited trip to sunny Myrtle Beach isn’t complete without a stop at one of the region’s most popular museums. While there isn’t an overabundant amount of Myrtle Beach museums within 10 miles of Sand Dunes Resort, we couldn’t dream up a more diverse group of attractions than these four selections. Without further ado, let’s start our guide with a stop at Broadway at the Beach.
1. Hollywood Wax Museum
After a $250 million installation, Broadway at the Beach rapidly evolved into the state’s premier entertainment hub. There’s something for every type of traveler here in the heart of Myrtle Beach: shops, eateries, boat rides, and, heck, even minor league baseball. But the Hollywood Wax Museum is a head-turning attraction that the whole family can relish. Pose alongside some of your favorite celebrities, athletes, and historical figures. The figures are, of course, made up entirely of wax (much like the classic 1953 film, House of Wax).
2. EdVenture Children’s Museum
Treat your kids to an educational, fun-filled afternoon at EdVenture Children’s Museum, the only children’s museum in Myrtle Beach. This 3,000-square-foot space rests inside The Market Common, a posh shopping complex on the south side of town. Visitors can meander alongside the countless hands-on exhibits to learn about humankind’s advancements in science, technology, engineering, and math. Your little ones can govern the “mission control,” attempt a flight simulator, and hop aboard an interactive spaceship.
3. Burroughs-Chapin Art Museum
The Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum has many names, including the “Myrtle Beach Art Museum.” For those with a keen eye for fine art, a stop at the Burroughs-Chapin Art Museum is an absolute must. This 11-gallery art hall is, as you might expect, a visual treat. Works from Norman Rockwell, Frank Lloyd Wright, Jonathan Green, Dixie Dugan, and countless other master artists have hung inside this beautiful respite. While many label the art museum as a splendid “rainy day activity,” we think it’s well worth a visit even amid summer’s golden haze. Unlike most Myrtle Beach museums, Burroughs-Chapin is entirely free of charge!
4. Wheels of Yesteryear
Wheels of Yesteryear narrowly “defeated” the Myrtle Beach Pinball Museum to garner the last spot on this list. One of the most enticing events of the year here in our beachside paradise is Mustang Week, which serves as an eye-catching trip down memory lane for thousands of spectators. Wheels of Yesterday has a jam-packed warehouse filled with glossy, breathtaking cars that have withstood the test of time, and it’s open to the public seven days a week! These hot rides have never looked more inviting to car geeks and gear heads. Stop in and say “hello” to their 1969 Mercury Cyclone, 1955 Dodge Stepside Pickup, and 1963 Corvette Stingray. As the only car museum in Myrtle Beach, Wheels of Yesteryear sees a ton of foot traffic during the cooler months.
Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Resorts
After visiting a couple of these marvelous Myrtle Beach museums, retreat to Sand Dunes Resort for a beach stroll, poolside cocktail, and a cheeselicious pizza at Oceanside 74 Restaurant. And don’t forget to browse through our modern, ocean-view villas before giving us a call at 866-845-1011. We cannot wait to see all of your smiling faces this winter here on the peaceful Grand Strand!

While a vacation (regardless of the locale) is the perfect time to splurge on fine dining, world-class golf, hair-raising live performances, and a plethora of souvenirs, it’s never a bad idea to compile a handy list of free activities. Luckily for you and your family, Myrtle Beach has the perfect combination of free fun and a wide variety of inexpensive attractions that cost money but don’t break the bank. To ensure that your family has the time of their lives without worrying about your checkbook, we’ve compiled four of our favorite free things to do in Myrtle Beach. All of these top-ranked Myrtle Beach attractions are within minutes (or seconds) of Sand Dunes Resort.
The 4 Best Free Things to Do in Myrtle Beach
Several other websites consider Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, and The Market Common some of the best free things to do in Myrtle Beach. While these three attractions are well worth a visit and technically “free,” you’ll quickly end up spending money on food, entertainment, or souvenirs. Reminder: all four of these kid-friendly Myrtle Beach activities are entirely free to our guests!
1. The Beach
Ranking the top six free things to do in Myrtle Beach with kids was challenging, but number one was a no-brainer. While many rank Broadway at the Beach as the area’s top attraction, thousands of travelers and locals flock to our pristine shores every day. Sand Dunes Resort rests along the awe-inspiring shores of the Atlantic, so you’ll always be seconds away from a day at the beach when you choose our oceanfront getaway. Build a sandcastle, read a crime novel, fly a kite, and practice yoga – there are only right ways to spend your time on Myrtle Beach.
2. Sands Resorts Waterpark
All of our guests get to enjoy FREE admission to Sands Resorts Waterpark, our on-site, 130,000-gallon wonderland. Float along the lazy river in a cushy tube, brace yourself under the giant water bucket, watch your kids frolic on the aquatic treehouse, and blaze down a waterslide before taking a nap on the beach (which is a brief stroll from the water park).
3. Franklin G. Burroughs & Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum
While the Burroughs & Chapin Art Museum is certainly a mouthful, this Ocean Boulevard attraction remains one of our favorite free things to do in Myrtle Beach (regardless of the price). Browse through an extensive collection of art exhibits ranging from local artists to world-famous figures such as Jean de Brunhoff. Inside the museum, you’ll discover pottery, glassworks, prints, illustrations, photographs, and, of course, paintings.
4. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade
While a stroll along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade may lead to a purchase or two, this beautiful stretch of South Carolina’s coast is well worth a visit. Yes, you’ll pass the SkyWheel, Ripley’s, and countless oceanfront restaurants, but the sprawling, awe-inspiring Atlantic Ocean views are stellar. And a walk along the Promenade is perhaps the best way to get to know the city – and maybe you stumble into a kitschy ice cream shop with the kids to cool your tongues.
Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Family Resorts
Not only do all guests at Sand Dunes Resort gain free admission to our crowd-pleasing on-site water park, but you’ll be seconds away from seemingly endless Myrtle Beach activities, such as sunbathing, swimming, and beachcombing. And don’t forget about our inexpensive yet utterly charming ocean-view suites, on-site dining, and spectacular golf specials. Hopefully, this list of free things to do in Myrtle Beach will help save your family a little money this summer. To learn more about Sand Dunes Resort, please visit us online at SandDunesMB.com, or give us a call today at 866-845-1011.

Charleston, SC
The journey from Myrtle Beach to Charleston is approximately 100 miles in length (the longest day trip on this list), but this historic, visually-striking community is well worth the two-hour drive. There are dozens of highlights located all across the city, ranging from maritime museums to tea plantations. Here are ten of our favorite stops in Charleston:

- Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum
- Middleton Place
- The Center for Birds of Prey
- Magnolia Plantation & Gardens
- Charleston Tea Plantation
- Charles Pinckney National Historic Site
- Charleston Culinary Tours

Murrells Inlet
Murrells Inlet is only 19 miles south of Sand Dunes Resort, helping it remain one of our favorite day trips in South Carolina. Whereas Charleston is historic and sophisticated, Murrells Inlet is a natural sanctuary enclosed by awe-inspiring wilderness. From world-renowned golf courses to the spectacular Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet is the perfect day trip for a family of outdoor enthusiasts. Here are five reasons why Murrells Inlet is one of our top three day trips in South Carolina:
McClellanville, SC
In-between Charleston and Murrells Inlet rests the quaint seaside community of McClellanville, yet another one of our favorite day trips in South Carolina. This small fishing town is located along the eastern edge of the pristine Francis Marion National Forest. There’s an abundance of seafood shanties, historic churches, and outdoor exploration in this peaceful town, making it the perfect quiet day trip during the summer months.
- Nature Adventures Outfitters
- Wambaw Creek Wilderness Canoe Trail
- T. W. Graham & Co.
- St. James-Santee Parish Episcopal Church
- Washo Reserve
Myrtle Beach Hotels with Water Parks

Over the past several decades, Myrtle Beach has evolved into one of North America’s premier family getaway destinations thanks to our pristine beaches, gourmet cuisine, and rousing attractions. There’s always a top-rated attraction within minutes of Sand Dunes Resort, home to a free (to guests) Myrtle Beach water park. You’ll also discover an exciting on-site Family FunZone with blacklight mini golf, nearby championship golf courses, and stellar Atlantic Ocean views from our private balconies.
Top 4 Attractions near Sand Dunes Resort
When you’re not parasailing high above the Atlantic Ocean, sunbathing on the beach, and splashing at Sands Resorts Waterpark, we recommend visiting one of these ultra-popular Myrtle Beach attractions during your unforgettable family getaway to coastal South Carolina.
- Broadway at the Beach – Families from across the globe flock to our beautiful oceanfront resort for many reasons, including our pristine beach, seemingly unlimited watersports, and, of course, our on-site Myrtle Beach water park. But Broadway at the Beach will always be a massive draw for families of all ages. Broadway at the Beach is Myrtle Beach’s entertainment, dining, and shopping hub located just 12 minutes from the best Myrtle Beach hotels. Some of the highlights along Celebrity Circle are WonderWorks, Ripley’s Aquarium, and the Hollywood Wax Museum (located across the highway).
- Myrtle Beach Pelicans – Minor league baseball is equally relaxing, exciting, and occasionally amusing (depending on the night’s promotions). The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are the Chicago Cubs’ Class A affiliate. Current MLB stars Freddie Freeman, Kyle Hendricks, and Elvis Andrus spent time developing their game with the Pelicans. Not only is TicketReturn.com Field a great, old-school place to watch baseball, but the weekly promotions are simply too good to pass up.
- SkyWheel – Myrtle Beach is home to the second tallest Ferris wheel in North America: SkyWheel, a 187-foot tall modern marvel that allows vacationers to obtain a birds-eye view of the Atlantic Ocean, Myrtle Beach, and far beyond. With “flights” starting at just $9, the SkyWheel is a must-visit attraction for families who are planning to enjoy the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, which is only a short drive from our Myrtle Beach water park resort.
Family Kingdom Amusement Park – Myrtle Beach’s Family Kingdom Amusement Park provides children and adults alike with 19 straight weeks of nostalgia, old-school thrill rides, and carnival games. You’ll discover everything from wooden roller coasters to bumper cars during your exciting and amusing trip to the Family Kingdom. Besides spending time on the beach and in the Atlantic, the Family Kingdom is one of the top three things to do in Myrtle Beach for families with young children!
A Free, On-Site Myrtle Beach Water Park
Sand Dunes Resort remains one of the only Myrtle Beach oceanfront hotels along the Atlantic’s edge that has an on-site water park. Sands Resorts Waterpark, which is free to all guests, features a relaxing lazy river, exhilarating waterslides, a splash-tastic aquatic treehouse, and so much more! Not only are we one of the only water park resorts in coastal South Carolina, but you’ll always be a short stroll from the beach, ocean, and on-site dining! There’s no denying that Myrtle Beach has expanded into one of the premier family getaways on the East Coast thanks to our city’s wide variety of family-friendly activities, attractions, and inexpensive oceanfront accommodations. Myrtle Beach, much like every other famous beachfront city, experiences a standard amount of rainfall throughout the year, intermittently “raining on everyone’s parade.” But don’t let a little rain ruin your well-deserved family vacation to the South Carolina coast! When you’re not sunbathing on the beach, splashing at the Sands Resorts Waterpark, and indulging in delicious local cuisine, we recommend taking a short journey to some of the best Myrtle Beach attractions. All of these top-rated Myrtle Beach attractions make perfect rainy day activities!
4 Top-Rated Indoor Myrtle Beach Attractions
- Family FunZone – There’s no better way to ride out a brief rainstorm than venturing over to the Family FunZone located next door at the newly-renovated North Shore Oceanfront Hotel. The Family FunZone has an extensive collection of classic arcade games, new video games, a swimming pool with a heated whirlpool, and, of course, Neptune Blacklight Mini Indoor Golf. Splash in the pool, play nine holes of black-light mini golf, and enjoy dozens of exciting arcade games while the rainstorm passes.
Ripley’s Aquarium – We highly recommend embarking on the five-mile journey from Sand Dunes Resort to Ripley’s Aquarium this summer, whether it’s raining or not. This kid-friendly aquarium is fun for all ages, but young children in particular always seem to leave electrified and smiling from ear-to-ear. The kids can meet some of the world’s most colorful fish, such as clown triggerfish, blue tang, and foxface rabbitfish. Some of the “scariest” creatures under the sea also reside at this magical aquarium, but don’t fret, because you can actually swim with some of these surprisingly friendly sharks and stingrays!- Hollywood Wax Museum – One of the most popular Myrtle Beach attractions, especially for teenagers, is the Hollywood Wax Museum, which rests just across the highway from Broadway at the Beach. The whole family can pose for photos with jaw-dropping wax versions of your favorite movie stars, musicians, and athletes, including Justin Timberlake, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Beyoncé.
- Medieval Times – One of the most exciting, amusing, and family-friendly Myrtle Beach attractions is Medieval Times, a rousing dinner theater originally founded in 1995. Not only will the whole family get to enjoy a four-course meal that’s “fit for royalty,” but you’ll observe some of the best jousting, weaponry, falconry, and horsemanship in the United States.
